i'm looking to get a bike for fitness training and possible triathlons....................my budget is approx £300 are there any recommended bikes out there......................i've done all sorts of searches and there are a few but knowing which brands are good is the main question. At the moment I am looking at the raleigh airlite 200. any advice would be great

I'll warn ya, most people here will recomend spending around £500....

Can't think of many bikes around the £300 mark, but if you're just starting and using it for training, I can't see why a few modifications to the bike you have wouldn't be better money spent.
Note: the above post is an opinion and not fact. It might be a lie.
  • I had a play with one of these today :

    http://www.decathlon.co.uk/EN/sport-1-54-57-69567468/

Nice bike and i thought exceptional for the £££'s

The next one up is also excellent at £500 but then at that you've got a wider choice range..

thanks for that i'll look into it........................i've had a look at the carerra TDF and the raleigh airlite 200 but this does give me some more options thanks again
  • Get your company to do Cycle To Work, if they don't already - it's a very easy scheme to set up - then your £300 goes a lot further (it's worth around £600 and because you pay in instalments, you can stretch yourself). I took delivery of a beautiful CAAD9 just today - £900 worth of bike, which'll end up costing me less than half that, and spread over a year and a half.
