Birmingham to shrewsbury

Wanted to go to shrewsbury to see gf family, but wanted to cycle there, has anyone done this. Only route i know is motorway and dont fancy going that way on bike lol.

or would it just be better to get a train there and do a nice loop to chester etc. anyone recomend and decent rides around there?

    Pretty easily doable. A few friends have done it from Selly Oak, including a couple of relative novices. They were fine, though they did get the train back.

    i was looking to go on a road bike so no off roading lol

    any idea which way they went?? dont mind a roads if have to go on them. im prob about 5 mile from selly oak so that would be fine going from there

    Some of them were on road bikes, so it was all on road.

    dont know the exact routes, but i would head via stourbridge, bridgnorth and on to shrewsbury. a road routes but using google maps you will be able to work out quieter routes.
    other way would be wolverhampton and west from there

    Just put that together. That's probably the route I'd take, starting from Birmingham uni.

    as long as i know its possible and can tell the gf i wont be going on any really fast roads should be ok :D
