Which tyres for the C2C

I'm planning on doing the C2C in September with my dad. I will be riding my cyclocross bike which currently has road tyres (Conti GP4000s) as it is my commuter and never gets used for cross. I don't think these are going to be good enough for the C2C as some of it is off road.

Have any of you done the C2C? If you have which tyres would you recommend? I have some proper knobbly cross tyres but think they would probably be a bit OTT for this.

The bike currently has Fulcrum Racing 7 wheels. Are these going to fall apart on the ride?

Going on ther wheels I saw being clattered over the cobbles on the Paris Roubaix sportive last year you should be fine. What about a less knobbly cross tyre like theVittoria Cross XN? Other than that the Schwalbe Land Cruiser has a smooth centre ridge for the metalled bits.

I've done it with 23mm Stelvios on Aksiums. The Waskerley way is fine and the other offroad sections are easily avoided, but mostly okay on skinny slicks. I think the first time I did it I used most of the offroad sections.

To me it'd be a bit daft doing a 150 mile ride that is probably about 90-95% asphalt on a bike with knobbly tyres. Doesn't stop the mtb brigade though.....
