I used to live in Batley and know there's some good riding, especially the old railway line in Hecky. Is the YMBC still going, they used to have a race series in the area?Giant ATX 8300

Hi, YMBC Folded years ago, i used to race Park wood at Tong and Post hill with them, good laugh.
As for riding in Batley/Dewsbury - There are a couple of us ride from Oakwell hall carpark or Gomersal Pubilc Hall on a Tuesday and some sundays if you fancy a spin. Nothing too serious or fast, just a laugh and a natter.....
Let me know if you fancy it and i'll confirm when we are going, most tuesdays though....

Hi - The only place I'd go in and around Dewsbury is purely for fitness pruposes really along the old railway line, Spen Valley Greenway. Its closed at the moment but its quite good for a quick blast, its flat too. Goes from Dewsbury all the way to Bierley near Bradford.
Oakwell hall and the like are OK but I've never thought of it as bike friendly there, been up a couple of times, its alright.
Or you have the canal ride from Todmorden/Hebden etc all the way back into Dewsbury, thats not bad, again for general fitness really.
There is a small wood, Bluebell wood I think, just next to the golf course at Dewsbury.0 -

I'm not out much at the minute due to a knackered Knee from rugby but i'll 'try' and keep you informed if you fancy a ride out at somepoint?
Be good to get a few of us out one evening a week....
