Setting up Avid Shorty brakes
Greetings. I have Avid Shorty brakes on my cyclocross, with some new(ish) Koolstops, but I'm just not getting the braking efficiency which I would expect. I've not used Koolstops before, but thought that they would be quite kool.
The brakes have no inline adjusters and so fine tuning is tricky. Any tips? Is it possible to insert inline adjusters on cantilevers?
Cheers!

Try toeing in the pads either with adjusters if that particular break has them or if not by shamfering off as little at the trailing edge of the pad so that under breaking the foremost part of the pad strikes the rim first. This should help. Also a cable guide at the headset and seat clamp helps a little to prevent that shudder you get on cross bikes.0
