Hello all,

Apologies if this has been discussed recently! After years mountain biking I've recently decided to take the plunge and buy a road bike. I currently have my 2007 Focus Raven Pro and am after another Focus for the road side of things. I'm looking for something fast, light and decent value for money, and have narrowed my search down to the Cayo 105 and the Culebro.

I'm guessing that the Cayo might come down in price yet (I think its the only Focus thats still has only 10% off) and they obviously still have all sizes in stock. Full carbon frame too, and obviously its rather beautiful  Additionally, its got a lot of good reviews from the media and riders too, which is always nice to know.

Culebro, currently cheaper and with mostly Ultegra kit and lighter too, but fewer reviews. Does anyone here have one?

Should I be swayed by the Cayo's carbon frame, or go for the Culebro's better spec? I'm thinking the Culebro is the better option, but I'm really liking the look of the Cayo.....

Oh, I'm after a large size too, and both have +10 in stock, so it gives me a bit of time to think about it.

Thanks in advance for any advice you can give!

Go for the frame that you prefer and suits you best.

You can always upgrade the groupset over time as and when the money is available and when the "boss" allows you to.

I have a Cayo and a Variado. I don't know the difference between Culebro and the Variado frames.

The Cayo I have is much better than the Variado. It is stiffer, weighs less and all round better but this I expect for the price difference.

The Cayo has been one of the best carbon frames I've ridden.

My brother got the Cayo 105 a few weeks ago as his first road bike and really likes it. Does look good in the flesh too.
  • Thanks for all the advice, I think I'm going to go for the Cayo all things considered. Will let you know what I think of it!
