My original wheels on the Giant SCR2 are showing to be untrue and possibly slightly buckled
Need advice on the following please
1) can this bve fixed and at what cost?
2) I weigh 15 stone  and ride round Manchester/Stockport, full of pot holes :?
can you advise me on replacements please. these need to be Fat boy friendly and reasonably hardwearing. Under £150 please.
the bike is used for training rides

Get them trued, Rick Greens in Handforth charged me 7 quid and that included replacing a spoke.
I wouldn't bother changing them unless they can't be trued.0 -
As above, get them trued up, if they continue to be a problem then Aksiums should be strong enough and come in your budget. He is not the messiah, he is a very naughty boy !!0

The wheels that come with that Giant are crap - I know because I had them on my SCR2 and the spokes kept coming loose and buckled it a couple of times (15st too). Go to CycleChat forums and check for problems with the Alexx22 wheels ... there is a very long post about them there.
My personal recommendation: Replace them.x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x

As above, get them trued for now and replace them when they're worn unless you start popping spokes every other day. I used these on my SCR2 for over a year without problem. The only time I broke a spoke was when I was cycling up to my parents house to collect a set of Mavic Aksiums that had just been delivered there. How lucky was I!
I currently use the front wheel on my Tricross and its been fine for a year's commuting.
I'm a lightweight though so maybe they just don't cope with heavier riders well.More problems but still living....0 -
Hi
thanks guys. I think I'll be truing them for now and keep the MRS happy (cheaper option) then when I've saved some more money get them changed.
Cheers0
