Does it cost the shop to get itself registered with cyclescheme.. And are there any limitations? The reason I ask is because a friend has started up in the business recently and was going to suggest getting registered as a supplier through cyclescheme. Then he could get me a nice shiney new bicycle...

Thanks

Andy.

AFAIK there are no setting up costs for the shop but on each transaction the shop will have to pay 10% of the transaction to Cyclescheme.

My recommendation for your friend is that he takes the hit for non-sale items. At the end of the day there is always a bit of haggling involved when buying a bike and you are always going to find that you are discounting even further than 10%.

Cheers for that real answer Gabriel.. that sounds reasonable. Its a little bit of info for him .It may be enough to get him to sign up. I dont want him to have to fork out cash if I will be his only cyclescheme customer...

I would suggest reading the small print on the T&Cs if he does sign up. I've just done this with the HR guys at my company and some sections (5.2 & 5.3, IIRC) strongly favour Cyclescheme! However, they can be negotiated (we managed to opt-out of the part where CS buy the bike from the company for £1 before they sell it on to the employee).

    Be careful!

Also (and this is only my personal experience), quite a few of the guys at CS are absolutely useless if you ask any detailed questions, whilst others are pretty helpful/knowledgable. I guess this is par for the course for any call-centre based operation though...

Cheers for the answer Monkeypump but he isnt doing it for his employees.. He is a one man band at the moment but rather to supply bikes to joe public where they are using the cycle scheme via their own employers...
