Giant parts - why the wait ?

I recently broke the clip ( prob has technical name I don't know ) that holds my front mech to the frame on my Giant SCR 2 and Cycle Surgery quoted me 3 weeks in terms of getting a new one . Does that sound reasonable to anyone or am I having my chain pulled ? I'm not happy as I've now only got the use of my big ring and I am so not fit enough to live with just that !

    I thought the SCR had a braze on front mech ?
    Does the mech bolt on to a bracket that is in turn bolted to the frame or does the mech have a clamp which fits round the frame ?
    Which bit is broken, how about a photo ?

    the mech bolts onto a bracket that bolts onto the frame - not a clamp - it is the bracket that has broken in half

    Ah, i doubt those brackets break very often so not surprised they will have to be ordered specially :(
