Just checking out the new 2010 colngo range, has the c50 gone? can't see it anywhere , suprised it hasn't been mentioned after being such a core part of their range.

glad to see a sportive range, when they do a top frame with suitably long enough head tube i might be up for it, maybe next year......

It's still being made in Italy alongside the EPS, but not sure if it will be 2010 onwards. I'm thinking of grabbing one myself before that time. Who knows if lugged frames are going to be made available in the future from Colnago. Great shame if they aren't imo. The Master is of course, but in steel ...
  • that's what i was wondering whether the c50 will live as a 'retro' carbon bike like the master but in carbon, mind you the 55 master and the retro paint jobs make me think about steel for the first time in years.

Mnnn looking at the 55 Master I do see what you mean. Rather lush isn't it, shame about the integrated headset, but do let me know if you find out a price .....

Get a Master... most beautiful frame around... the only head-turner, in my view

And robust, a friend of mine has done RVV and Paris-Roubaix on one of those and he's no feather...

The C50 is five years old now, so in today's market, a bit long in the tooth, but expect a revised product in the autumn shows - a C55 maybe or hold off another five years for the C60?

no I doubt very much if there will be a C55 just because there was a Master 55, but we shall see ....
  • does this mean that the 2010 line up on the website is not all the new stuff, they may have saved something for the trade shows?

Sometimes they do sometimes they don't. The London show is in Oct to name but one.

The Master is a beaut, no question. Anyone got any idea what weight bike it can be built to? My steel/carbon Lemond is around 18.5 lbs and seems quite light enough for me.

Good question so I had to check.....

Master with steel forks, Campag Centaur groupset, Chorus post & Scirroco wheels, Open Pave tyres, Flite saddle, Pro LT stem, ITM bars, bag with tube, levers & multitool, cage bidon and finally, a Cateye wired computer.

Edit:- Also including Shimano A520 pedals

    19.2 lbs

Heavier than I thought but the extras add up. And I am still 14 lbs overweight so it still doesn't matter
None of the above should be taken seriously, and certainly not personally.

So could be about the same - my weight excludes the bag and pump but includes pedals, two bottle cages and a Flightdeck computer. My wheels are lighter than Sciroccos, Easton SLX90s.

Not too bad considering it is steel. You could save some weight with some bespoke wheels and different bars/stem.

According to Brian at the washingmachine post, the C50 will still be available in 2010, but probably not beyond then. He even quotes prices.! It would be great shame to see it go.

Give Mike at Maestro a call for a straightforward, no nonsense answer at a great price - as well as any paint finish you fancy.

The Master looks stunning but the Master 55 in black and gold on the website is hideous...
  • i like it, back in the '80's they did colnago gold's with gold plated front forks and rear triangle which as a teenager i loved.
