Don't know what the real name is...
Anyway how do you stop them sliding down the cables and always ending up at the cable guide? I was thinking of a dab of super glue or something just to keep them in place. Would that work?
Anyone else have any remedies?

I think that the problem is they were originally designed for brake cables which tend to be thicker than gear cables which used to be housed.
They are called "cable donuts" and most LBS will stock. He that buys land buys many stones.
He that buys flesh buys many bones.
He that buys eggs buys many shells,
But he that buys good beer buys nothing else.

there are many different types and i find the hexagon ones work best.
called as above.
or just doughnuts."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

if you superglue them, will they not just rub into the frame?
