I've got a tear in the side wall of my rear tyre and want another Racing Ralph (so I can do it again  ) to replace it. So here goes with the stupid question:

http://www.merlincycles.co.uk/mountain-bike-tyres-and-tubes/schwalbe-bike-tyres/schwalbe-racing-ralph.html

Do the colours refer to the text on the sidewall or do they come with coloured sidewalls or something along those lines? Mine are all black 2.1s with silver text, so I want the same again to match, but only the 2.25s seem to come in colours....

:?

The colour is on the top of the tred not on the side walls. You probably just want the normal black ones.

Cheers Eranu. My Cube has a 2.25 on the rear which is all black with white text, so it's got me quite confused

They actually look pretty sweet on that Cannondale. I'll stick to black on the Anthem though :D

Really? The tread is red/silver/white...how does that work? I've looked on the Schwalbe site before for pics and no joy.

I assumed it was the colour of the lettering.

The Schwalbe website describes the Racing Ralph as "New. Now also with colored shoulders.", the same for the Nobby Nic.

Hmmm I like them more than I thought I would, but ordered plain old black now (and I don't want to buy a pair just so they match ). Now I can go and tear the sidewall on a new one! 8)

Did it at some point last week, I rode the Quantocks, Cwm Carn and Afan over 3 days. It's not a full tear really, I think it's been cut on a sharp rock and it's starting to fray. I'm still riding on it at the moment, but no idea how long it will be before it tears open.

Personally I love Ralphs, but not everyone does and they don't really work in winter mud. They're standard on the X0, X1 and X2 though....
  • Hmmm... I do like the Ralphs on my Cube. Some coloured sidewalls would look cool ...

    must ... resist .....

Hmm cheers, I liked the tyres when I tested an X1, and don' t like the Kenda's on my X3, so was thinking of getting Ralphs, but a few posts seem to say they have very thin sidewalls.....

    Cheers,

They do. I think they're quite pressure sensitive. I run them softer around Bristol where there's more mud and less rocks than if I go to Wales. I also run the rear slightly harder than the front. I'm a lightweight though, so maybe that's why I like them

    Hmm cheers, decisons, decisions!!

the 2 for £50 at Merlin looks good, I don't really do much flinty stuff, lots of yorkshire cobbles and the odd trail centre, so not sure if 'thin sidewalls' should be a worry or not????

    Regards,

    Greg

How about a smart sam, grippier than a ralph but rolls nearly as quick. ;)
The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.

I've just fitted a new pair of Maxxis CrossMarks to replace my RR EVO's as I'm fed up with them splitting the sidewalls and the Crossmarks seem to have a thicker wall and half the price. I rode it around the block (not much of a test I know) but they seem to roll faster than the RR's.

    Real test this weekend.
