COMPACT CHAINSET SPECIALIZED TARMAC

Will it be possible to replace the existing 105 53/39 with a compact 50/34 without changing bottom bracket and front mech?- this is on a Specialized Tarmac 08 with braze on front mech (that has some hight adjustment)

    if the new c/set fits the existing BB then it's a straight swap. Just lower the mech a tad, and possibly remove the odd chain link.

    You can, I have a s-works tarmac and did the very same. You will need a new spider and front chainrings as the BCD is different.

    Mech will be fine as you'll need to lower it, may also need a couple of links out of the chain
