:( Just read this http://www.on-one-shop.co.uk/?p=2656

Have wanted to build one of these but never had the money. May have to purchase the frame before they all go.

I might nab one as well. Though "there will never be a light steel bike that handles 6inch forks again???!!! SO GET A BARGIN !!!!" is of course complete pish- the 456 ain't exactly light in the first place and the Blue Pig is CEN'd and only about 2lbs heavier. I don't know how the BFe gets on with CEN though, meant to find that out.

But still, £125, could grab one and throw it in the attic. I'm well tempted to grab a summer season... Build it up with random s*** off the garage floor for now and have it there as a spare.

The CEN standards will see most frames go up in weight.

So what we going to gain with these CEN standards? :?

The new standards mean the frames have to pass tougher tests.

  • What a load of cow bolloks.

I'm guessing this is because of the recent shitty bikes produced by supermarkets or something similar.

Or has health and safety caught up?

(haven't read the article yet btw).

Nothing wrong with good safety standards etc- especially if they're a moving target, things like CE armour have really made a difference in personal protection frinstance. But the idea that the 456 is suddenly a weak bike too unsafe to be sold, because it doesn't pass this test, is just obviously insane  You can ride a Cotic BFe down the megavalanche but you can't sell it in the UK and ride it to the shops because it'll snap instantly.

Where does it actually say that the 456 (or summer season for that matter) will be discontinued?

I have no problem with safety standards, it's all good stuff and it means that designers, engineers and materials people will have to up their game.

Throwing more material at a frame isn't always the best way to beef it up. There's ways and means...

It's in the comments, 2nd one. I can't see how On One wouldn't replace it with something similar. Surely it's one of their best sellers?

TBH I'd be surprised if those frames don't pass the CEN test. If that Ragley Blue Pig abortion can, I'm sure the On-Ones shouldn't be far off the mark.

It's a pity that Brant lost the plot and On-One seems to have been taken over by a pair of muppets.

I am a massive fan of on-one, I have been riding a inbred for years and still think It's one of the best hard tails I have ever ridden.

I have just brought a summer season and In the middle of building It as I type this, what was going to be just another hack built with parts In the shed (as my inbred Is now on commuter duty's) has started to get a little pricey £700 so far, but I know It's going to ride well.

I have decided to get rid of the inbred now to get a little cash back, so off to the classified section for me :D

mine tends to be more n-1+1 these days, i cant really find space for more than 5 bikes (+2 giants that never get ridden) so i tend to sell a bike then buy a replacement. last to go was the p1 to make way for the focus.

im pretty happy with my steeds at the moment but im feeling a bit pha5e-y or trailstar-y for some unknown reason (ive always wanted a pha5e). its only the fact that i dont enjoy ht bikes that has kept my debit card in my pocket.
  • Lol, I broke the news to my rents that I'm getting another bike :D

    get my own shed now!!

Shame I'm moving out soon, would have been ideal!!

I hope It went better then when my Mrs found my new frame and forks on the door step on Thursday, apparently It was not a good time to be spending that much money as we only got back from holiday last week :D

I have an On one inbred from a while back - one of the 80mm travel adjusted ones - to be honest I never really got on with it - its my commuter bike these days so ironically I probably do more miles on it than my other but still I dont like it!

Twitchy, unnecessarily heavy frame that is the only frame to have thrown me over the bars under heavy braking (admittedly this was more an issue with an over enthusiastic taxi than the bike!)

Still I have to admit I can see nothing weak about the frame. I'm off to Canada in November, back in April - if anyone wants any non HSE wrecked frames picked up let me know!

I think that they're pig ugly TBH and I cannot get my head round that 3-finger business at the bottom bracket.

    Don't like 'em, not interested.

I have to admit to not being that keen on the looks of the Ragleys - might ride well but if you dont like to look at it would you buy it (see are looks important thread).

    Anyhow - back on topic....

I'm not so sure about that, crap ride is a crap ride and you can't really escape that and he relies on a niche market, not exactly your 'apollo-works-for-me' clientèle.
