as far back as i can remember. Loved them all

a few really early ones can't remember, think i had a thundercats one!

an Emmelle (sp?) bmx. Remember when i was about 7-8 ish my dad made me some stunt pegs on a lathe at work and my mate and i went everywhere with one of us standing on the pegs. good times :D

Emmelle mtb can't remember the name

Raleigh Gritstone. Solid, reliable. never changed a thing on it but it was pretty heavy!

1999 Specialized rockhopper FS. rode it for 9 years and loved every min of it. Changed just everything except front mech, shifters and frame. Bent rear triange at danbury after hitting rear mech (no breakaway hanger, too old)

2008 Specialized stumpjumper FSR comp (current stead) love it. Climbs well and decends like a rocket :D
Bikes are OK, I guess... :-)

    2008 Specialized Stumpjumper FSR Comp.
    2013 Trek 1.2
    1982 Holdsworth Elan.

  • OK, a bit rough on timelines, but here we go:

born in '74, no bike at that stage I believe.

78-82 - trike and first bike with no stabilisers

    82'ish raleigh grifter - 20yrd skids a speciality

84'ish Peugot 10spd racer about 2 sizes too big, could hardly reach the pedals (WORST!)

88'ish Diamond Back Topanga (sold it and my C64 with tons of games + paper round money to buy...)

89'ish Scott something or other - bloody loved it, upgraded everything, STOLEN!

9'ish Gary Fisher Montare - with raised Chainstays and kinked seatube - climbed like billy-o, no mud problems, but.... frame snapped (whilst pedallling up a hill) where the cro-mo seat tube kink met raised chainstays.. replaced by edinburgh bike co-op by....

92 Specialized Rockhopper in bluey-purple. Awesome looker, totally wrong geometry for me and gave me a killer sore back after 30 mins riding - STOLEN!

96 Marin Nail trail - nice bike, strong frame, terrible forks (still used as my commuter)

after a long cycling hiatus started getting back into it again on moving to CH so

08 Spesh Stumpy FSR (BEST) bloody fabulous, really fits me perfectly and is just right for my riding (alhtough would love slacker and longer travel for alpine trips!)

Anyone help me with what the scott might have been? I worked on that thing loads, rode it loads, And I cannot remember what model it was. It had a mainly white frame with 'smokey' grey colours where the tubes met.

    Ta!

Errm... In rough order (and can't remember the kiddie bikes!):

Yellow bmx with blue mag wheels
Emmelle Cheetah (SS, I feel your pain!)
    Raleigh Max
    Raleigh Activator
    Diamond Back something or other
Kona Lava Dome - green, probably the same as Mac's (same year I think!) - loved that bike, it got tricked out (snapped the frame too )
    Kona Hahannah
Specialized Rockhopper Pro (yellow/black - Stolen)
Kona chute -(with orange Hayes calipers - Stolen)
Some wal-mart quality BMX bike, (bought from America (It had like 64 spokes a wheel, weighed a ton!) WORST BIKE
A gold (not solid... ) jump bike - (I have no idea what it was, it said 'Hardcore' on the downtube, and had 5.0 on the chainstay, I presume it was crap, but I loved this bike (anyone shed some info, its the one at the back) http://www.pinkbike.com/photo/2779569/
Handsome Dog XC1 - My XC bike at the time, ridden to death
Scott boulder HT (Officially known as the trolley - everything rattled, Pedal arms & cranks were almost falling out, wheels were buckled, and the forks were f***ed, but I was still over the Surrey Hills every weekend on it! Until it died..)
Kona Scab - http://www.pinkbike.com/photo/2690005/ (Did the London 2 Brighton on that, great little bike!)
Giant Trance 1 (My first foray into FS! Sadly, broke the frame after a heavy landing)
Specialized Epic (Modded up!) http://www.pinkbike.com/photo/3130046/ (Loved it, but it was a bit small for me. Sold earlier this year)
Specialized Centrum hybrid (SS) - Just sold last week, didn't get on with it!)
Marin Mount Vision (2008) - (The current beast, and best bike I've owned by a long shot - theres pics in the photo challenge thread if interested)

Jesus, I've had more bikes than I thought! I'd say the Marin is definitely the best bike, but the Lava Dome got me properly into MTB, so was my most influential.

Good thread this, it's made me think!!
