Love him or hate him?

Personally I think he is a fecking genius. Whats your fav quote?

One of my many favs is

I would have loved to have a gay dad. Do you remember at school, there were always kids saying "My dad's bigger than your dad, my dad will batter your dad!" "So what? My dad will shag your dad. And your dad will enjoy it."

I went to see him last year. Obviously when you pay to see someone live, you expect the stuff you won't see on TV. He was just a bit too much live though...Started going on about some subjects, which are rightfully taboo. There is shock value, and then there is a line which you cross. I think he crosses it sometimes.

One of his better comments...don't hate me.

Getting Mother's Day flowers from lamp posts being one of them, and possibly at the more genteel end of the spectrum!

He sometimes comes up with some great lines on Mock the Week but I don't think his solo standup is very good - it tends to cross the line from edgy to downright unpleasant just a bit too often. For me, comedy should be about more than simply being very, very rude.

  • I thionk he's really funny on the Mock The Week but I bought his live DVD and it's a bit too harsh really.

I know he's supposed to rip the piss into audience members but sometimes he went over the top, and some of his material is taken straight from Mock The Week. He's not alone in that though, about half of Russell Howard's is, but I prefer him.

Probably my favourite quote from him, even though it's so bad:-

"They should save money on speeding adverts and just have a video of Richard Hammond trying to remember his wedding day"

Agree with you bob. Humour in Scotland does seem to be a very dark morbid sort of thing, we laugh at our own and others misfortune as much as we laugh at a good joke.

Explains why we are all such miserable sods I suppose

I agree. You have to be able to laugh at yourself. I do appreciate some people are sensitive over one thing or another.

If you watch Frankie B though you surely know what to expect, Like Chubby Brown who I find unfunny (not offensive) just unfunny so I choose not to watch him.

He said that being interviewed on e4, started with looking like the proclaimers but with a few days growth people start shouting 'paedophile'!!

I don't what it is about wearing a beard and glasses that children find so sexy.

The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.

    Love it!

For me, it's genius the way he takes a subject, and finds the humour / punchline in a completely unexpected way, just like in the above joke.

What some people seem to have trouble grasping is that it's not condoning paedophiles, and it's not going to encourage anyone to go out and take up paedophilia. It's a joke. It's wordplay. That's all.

I agree with you bobtbuilder. Did you choose that forum name to attract children?

    How very dare you!

Next you'll be saying that the 8KG sacks of Haribo I keep in my blacked out van aren't for my personal consumption, but rather as some sort of kiddie bait! :?

He is good when he does that. On the other hand the small bit of his standup I've seen seemed to consist mainly of him slagging various celebrities off - a bit cheap and not terribly original IMO.
