Boardman rarity

Ok I haven't been paying attention to recent events recently, Why are the boardman carbon bikes so hard to get.

I went into the local halfords and was told by the pre-pubescent salesboy/bike expert that it was impossible to get any Boardmans from anywhere in the country.

I used to sell hardwood front doors and if we had loads of orders for these and they never turned up we would tell the customer that because of a tropical sunami the ship had sank with all the doors on.

Is it possible that lying at the bottom of the china sea is my bike. If so would somone please despatch the SSRN Seaview on a Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea.

No seriously it's not funny......Halfords to make it worse keep advertising my bike....Why do that if they can't get any.

I can't complain to halfords though as I won a Boardman pro carbon in a competition. :D

So Why is that that they are rare.

  • Yeah they haven't got any but they seemed to find 10 to supply the ta base in grantham at short notice

And that from a halfords branch that isn't authorised to sell 'em. Boardman 'selected' only so many outlets he wanted to sell them.. yeah right! I doubt he's as closely related to the design, making and selling of these as the sales boys would let you know.

Oh, and they're in short supply as they didn't order enough of them to be restickered from cambodia or whereever :D

Sorry, you're wrong on that score, Chris Boardman posted on here not long ago & explained many of the issues with Halfords & his decision to use them.
Think most of the issues are Halfords, their service is shocking, most of the bikes & stock are labelled incorrectly & not set up, ans most of the staff have not a clue.
MD was interviewed in the Mail this week & after a long discourse on cyling sales & how important they are (and admitting that serious cyclists didn't take them seriously) then had to admit he didn't even own a bike.

Can't see why this brand is so popular at all. The spec is ok but it is nothing spectacular for the money. And the state of preparation of ALL the display model Boardman bikes I have inspected in Halfords stores is shockingly bad-none are fit to be taken on the road.

Leave these jokers to sell car shampoo and alloy wheels. Buy a bike somewhere else.

You can buy direct online from Boarman bikes - Halfords will simply then deliver it for you.
Go to the Boardman site & click on the appropriate "buy" link (bottom left): http://www.boardmanbikes.com/buy/index.html 8)

Then all you have to do is sit back and wait... about 6 months!
  • Go to a decent LBS and support them by purchasing there. They should make sure your bike is set up properly and should be happy to supply a good back up service.

Is that a statement of personal experience, or hear-say?

On another end, I suspect this very website doesn't have to go through the hassle everyone seems to be enduring to get their paws on the said bike.
