Hi

Am looking for a solid good quality set of wheels - not particularly bothered
about extreme lightness or aero capabilities.

Ribble are selling the following at about £160
CSN Shimano Ultegra 10 SSDB/Mavic Open Pro Black Wheels
Hand built in their own workshop. Seems good value to me?

Has anyone bought wheels from Ribble and what is their opinion of the
build quality - the parts from my own limited experience should be ok

Am open to suggestions about alternatives in or around that price range

I am a fan of these wheels, I got some from Parker International at a good price, the build is excellent and they haven't needed any fettling. Not sure how Parkers prices compare with Ribble, might be worth a look.

Good value yes- but good luck to you if you can get them to build you a pair any time soon-you can't order a pair as they are showing out of stock. If you do manage to get a pair let me know as I have tried and failed in the past.

There seems to be a lot of that going on.
You Google for a good price and find that the
great bargain is no longer available.
Wiggle have got a lot of items like that, but they
    are not the only ones.

I got a set of Mavic CXP33 rims built onto Ultegra hubs by Paul Hewitt in Leyland (http://www.hewittbikefitting.co.uk/). They were around 180 quid posted to a UK address. I use them for commuting and they haven't needed to be trued once in over 12 months. My only gripe was that there was no rim tape fitted, but I suppose didn't ask, I just assumed that it would be.
