GT85'd bottom bracket

Since GT85'ing by bottom bracket on the advice of a friend, its started to make a right racket especially when freewheeling down bumpy tracks. It feels like its rattling around inside as I can feel and hear the vibration through the whole frame. Would the GT85 be the culprit. Its the only thing I can think of.
If so can I get away with smearing some grease on it in situ or will it have to come off and be properly re-greased? Am I causing irreversible damage riding it as it is?
Thanks!!

What is the bottom bracket? Are the bearing rough, any play?
GT85 is one of the worst things you can spray on it - it will penetrate the bearings seals and thin the grease out. There is just no need.
Shoot your mate.
WHat bit would you grease? They are sealed bearings.0 -
yeah its knackerd now you will need a new one
on cheap bikes the bearings wont be in a seald cartridge
put a new sealed unit in there and remember the cog side is left hand thread0 -
By bottom bracket I mean I sprayed the GT85 between it and the crank whilst all attached. It is sealed I believe. There is no play and the bearings feel smooth whilst peddling however there is a slight squeak but the worst is the clunking when freewheeling on the downhills.
O and the bike was very expensive!0 -
are you sure the noise is comeing from the bottom bracket area?
have you checked everything eles?0 -

GT-85 will deffo = BB death but if your getting rateling and movement when freewheeling are you certain your cranks are tight?? it sounds daft but its worth checking
other than this it looks like its time to change your BB
robI recon im the tinyest horse you will ever see0 -
If its cluncking on the downhills when your not pedaling it might be worth checking the pivots and bushings, try sitting on the bike without touching the pedals and compress the suspension a few times, just a though !0
