god damn the credit crunch and gordon brown the fat tw4t. is it just me or are some of the prices of next years bikes getting a little bit out of hand???? most have gone up by 10% so between 50 and 200 quid on average. what really p!ssed me off was the announcement of commencals 2010 prices. the new 2010 meta 5.2 is £2499.99 or in other words the price of last years all singing 5.1. thats an increase of a third. a bloody third!!!!! its the same on the 5.3 which now costs £1899 for a pretty dire spec tbh for the money and the uk edition is £2799!!!!!!! thats and increase of £750!!!!! im worried about the state of our government with all the expenses and corruption shite going on and my bike used to be a nice way to get away from it. well thanks to all these price increases that bike i was going to buy is now being put off indefinitly it really gets my goat that these a***holes claim back back money for a f***in toilet seat, and there are young people like me struggling to find work and therefore strugling to find accomodation and pay for uni, college etc. in short all politians are to55ers and should be locked. what happened to power to the people???? democracy is clearly a word gordon brown hasnt heard of and all these sodding schemes he trys are pure bull sh!t. forgive me if im wrong, but he is a tw4t and knows f*** all about what his people want. tony blair is a saint compared to brown and tbh i think good old saddam good do a better job than brown is doing at the minute. w4nker.

don't worry Merlins will have the commencals cheaper than anywere elseI assume this is French petrol - be careful in reverse - the car will retreat rapidly at the least provocation.0

I wouldn`t expect to see massive discounts on next years Meta, they may be slightly cheaper than the RRP`s but don`t expect to see hundreds of pounds worth of discount.0 -
i'm pretty sure this wil be against forum rules,..
everything you say is true though,.. it annoys me that these guys sit in their chaufer drvien cars (jags rangerovers mercs) claim for second and third houses to keep their bit on the side in, stupid expensis like light bulbs and plasma tvs.
get a pay rise of stupid percent..
look at the knobs in the banks who pretty much started all this, they still getting fat bonuses..
now how many people on here are like me, an average working class guy trying to hold a carappy job to support a family,, we never got a pay rise this year due to the economic climate,.. but they can increase duty on fuel oil goes up so this in term effects petrol diesil gas electricity, then the food at the supermarket goes up it goes right across the board,, and the only thing you want to go up is certain not to go up.. and thats your wages..
now the only thing that helps keep you sain in this world is going up all thanks to some idiots who are so called educated and controll our country and its financies....
anyone remember the russian revoloution.. :Pwww.bearbackbiking.com

you should all get jobs with my company, i get 2 pay rises every year, pretty much guaranteed.
the prices are taking the mick to be honest, im glad im pretty much fully kitted out now but i love new stuff and its always tempting to splash on a new bike but these prices are ridiculous.
its times like these that second hand is the smartest place to spend your money as long as you are paying with cash. even that will become more difficult as second hand sellers will know their stuff is worth more as new kit is more pricey cause what are you gonna do? pay the inflated second hand prices or save up for brand new?0 -
Still some good bargains about.
Do you really need a 2010 bike?!0 -
The price rises are pretty much global, you can't solely blame the UK government (although it probably makes you feel a bit better).0

sonic ive got my heart set on a meta or a zesty and no one has medium 514's or 55.1's left and i may even get a small zesty because it comes up quite long and im between sizes besides my point is relevant to alot of people and its insane that these prices keep going up and we consumers are being ripped off for lower spec stuff, and all this gives us less and governments and companies more.
i like the idea of a revolution tbh :P0 -
i love the idea of a revolution so id get the chance to shoot some hippys0

hey im a hippie :P i wanna shoot some chavs
lets all smoke cigars, drink some beer and listen to music0 -
not really tbh no other fs really takes my fancy tbh i might get another ht maybe a new evil soveriegn and properly bling it, but id love a fs and things arent so bad cos i found thatreal cycles do 36 months interest free on metas so it will only cost me £69 a month which isnt bad. it means i get a new bike even if im still payin full whack for it. rutland cycling have started doin lapierre too so althought the servise is crap, ik now the guys there really well so i can get good discount + finance
as for a good way of spending the evening, nice cold fosters and a hot tub sound pretty good ...... oh wait thats wot ive got 8)
no cigars tho, reserved for poker0 -
Still awaiting the new Cube line-up. Will be interesting to see how much they put their prices up by. Luckily though, there does seem to be a fair supply of Fritzz left for the time being though.0

I'm up for a revolution.GENESIS CORE 200 -
I agree also, another one that does my head in and this is not tarring everyone of them with the same brush, but lazy dole dossers, the ones who are quite happy to claim JSA, Housing benefits, disability benefits because their alcoholic and you get people who do 48 hour weeks and then getting their arses slapped with 20 plus % Tax. It annoys me.
I work as a Health Care assistant and get 4 weeks annual leave, taxed 22% and earn £7.16 an hour, and i still cant afford to purchase even a cheap MTB.
Remember peeps, next general election, vote the One eyed bandit Brown and his set of numpties out.0 -
sorry to go against the grain but i think gordan is doing a decent job in difficult times, he hasn`t had a easy time since blair left, i think we would be in a far worse state if that t!t cameron was in charge.0
-
Yeah I'm sick of people blaming Gordon Brown for a world financial crisis - he is clearly far more intelligent and capable than Cameron but because he's not a 'good communicator' no-one likes him.

So you could currently buy from Merlin a medium custom meta with SLX and revelations for £1499, or a 5.5.2 for £1349 - and yet you are whining about price increases next year? Can you really not bear to have a 5.2 instead of a 5.1?
There are millions of people around the world fucking starving and dying and all you can do is whine because you can't get the highest spec version possible of the bike you want, right now, for the price you have decided is reasonable.
Jesus - get a grip. :roll:0 -

all im gonna say is i cant make a difference on my own but i do try and help people so please dont judge me just because i want a decent bike. i probably could have a 5.2 but isnt it nice to have something better? im just human after all. and at 17 im not exactly the richest guy on earth, i cant help everyone.0 -
grumsta - So do you live in poverty, after sending most of your wages to feed / clothe / house / water etc some folks in a poor, third world country...?
Obviously not. So don't get on lawmans case about being p!ssed off about the (frankly ridiculous) 2010 price rises, across the board - food, fuel, utilities, bikes and bits, cars, insurances... EVERYTHING.
Seriously mate, what did you expect from a thread titled 'Ranty moan'...?
Ok, so lawman was a bit misguided about who is responsible for the 'credit crunch'. As hard as it is to believe, it's NOT all Gordon Brown's fault. He's just the front-man, so gets all the abuse for sh!t like this.
Yeah, it's pretty sh!te, and I'll CERTAINLY NOT be buying any bikes or parts, unless essential, for a looooong while yet - I'm not Mr Moneybags.
lawman, you tried scouring the classifieds?? It's a buyers market at the moment, so potentially alot of UBER bargains around.
You could even get an Orange 5Boo-yah mofo

exactly why i bought an 09 commie 5.2. somebody i got talking to at hamsterely told me about the increase in prices and for once i decided not to be stubborn and take his advice. 1350 quid isnt a bad price at all for a quality bike.yeehaamcgee wrote:

ive looked chaz and found a blur 4x, probably my dream bike tbh but it had a whacking great dent in the dt which put me off and i havent found one since, probably cos they're so popular.
i cant afford a bike atm so thats why im having to wait. if i had 1350 quid i would probably buy a 5.2, great bikes and well worth specing up, but when something catches your eye, nothing else will do it justice. im not a snob, i just like my bikes
as for the cause of the financial crisis, i dont know who to blame, but im not a fan of mr brown or his policies and the government in general seems incredibly corrupt to me, but hey i know feck all about politics, so ill just keep to bikes for now0 -
How about a 2008 GT Force?0

I just think you need a teensy bit of perspective about what you consider a 'decent bike'. Don't think most 17 year olds would be whinging that they can only afford an £1800 bike not a £2500 one.
My bike cost around £1000 and I love it. Lots of people love riding on bikes that cost considerably less.
Yeah all the price rises are a bit annoying but nobody is forcing you to buy that particular bike. Still plenty of great deals out there.0 -

i tired one sonic and it just felt all tall and steep, didnt get on with it at all. greatdeals on it but not for meQuote:

i see wot you're saying grumsta, i used to trash about on a 300 quid claudbutler and loved it, but like i say its nice to be able to have a really great bike as apposed to a good one. the main point is i dont want a bike with a worse spec than what i have already, which is xt, and that means spending more. but if it makes me feel good im happy to spend the extra, well i was until the bloody prices went up :evil:0 -
It's always seemed to me that the average joe has been living beyond their means for too long. For instance people borrowing stupid amounts of money to live in houses they can barely afford in a good financial situation, multiple loans and credit cards etc... this black hole of debt had been mounting for so long that finally the banks went BOOM!!! Realising that they're lending so much to each other and pretty much anyone who wants it, that they don't know who owes who what?! gets all panicky and effectively shuts up shop.
The banks were wreckless and irresponsible without doubt however I guess what I'm saying is when trying to point the finger of blame, I think a degree of personal responsibilty needs to be taken.
oh yeah and 2010 bike price hikes suck but I'll still be getting something shiny and new!0 -
Pity we don't all hold back and watch them prices tumble, but many of us are magpies at heart ;-)0
