Hi Tom,
You may be interested to know that a small group of us have set-up a small MTB club running from the Moorcock Inn on the A58 Blackstone Edge road. Our first official meet is 6.30pm on Wednesday 26th August. We will do a small run out on the local hills followed by a beer and chat back at the pub.
Interested?

Cheers.0 -
Just signed up to say hello as I'm also in Littleborough (and also on Shore Road...hi Adrian sounds like I'm in the same boat..been off riding a while following birth of my daugther, feeling older and unfit..perhaps we should arrange a few 'warm-up' / get fit rides!).
I'll keep an eye-out for the group anyhow and when I've got back into riding I might come along.0 -

Had a good run out today from Elland ... went down to Sowerby Bridge, up into Riponden then the climb up to The White House Pub .... there i picked up the Penine Way and headed to Stoodly Pike .... Was some boggy marsh land and some very technical parts but it was good fun ... headed down into Mankinholes then down into Todmorden where i got onto the canal and made my way home .....
Maybe do some thing similar at the weekend0 -

What bike were you riding? I spoke to someone along the Pennine way as I was walking to the White House pub, thought it was too boggy for a bike so walked instead.
On a slightly different note, whats the deal with biking along the pennine way, its a footpath but Ive never had any issues with walkers/hikers etc?0 -

No one seems to bother about the section from the White House to the point behind the reservoirs where the track stops being a vehicle access rd, after that some walkers can get a bit arsey. Last time we had grief was at the point nr the Pike where the signs say 'no cycling'.0 -

Yeah I know that sign and its a shame because there are some really nice rocky drop offs etc just after that.0 -

Hi, Was on a Matte Black Trek 4300 D ..... i did speak to 3 bikers who were walking too the White House Pub, due to one of them having a snapped chain ...
And yeah it was very boggy, i'd sank up to the front brake disc at one point, lol
Going up that way again this coming Sunday, meeting at the Pub at 10am .....0 -

The steep rocky section heading from the white house towards those signs we named as 'the devils' staircase' years ago! I ride that route when i like, avoid it when it's likely to be busy though. Most walkers are fine, had plenty cheering me on as i've approached the staircase before now.
Ever ridden the route from the Ram's Head towards Marsden into Stonepit Lee Clough?
Great run when dry with a fantastic 27 degree loose and rocky slope at the end. Bugger of a road pull back up to the Carriage House before getting back off road though!0 -
