I've seen a dude in full Livestrong kit
I want a mellow johnny's kit.Not climber, not sprinter, not rouleur0 -

I'm not so sure about this. The Nalini team bib shorts I bought were about £50. That is pretty competitive or cheaper than equivalent non-team shorts. Can you get plain Nalini shorts?
Fair point. I must admit I don't know what the price of bib shorts is, but I was looking at the original prices on PBK last weekend and thought "that's a bit steep".
I've seen some Nalini Team shorts on the commute; never looked at the prices though. My club kit is Nalini and the bib shorts are about £45-ish.
I've just got some plain black Nalini bibs frm PBK and as far as I can see from the catalouge the pad and cut is exactly the same - £17.55 delivered I can even do the sausage smuggle a la Thomas Voeckler in the TDF
I stand corrected. Just ordered 2 pairs. Thanks.0 -
I wore mine today for the first time, they are extremely comfy mmmm.Saracen Tenet 3 - 2015 - Dead - Replaced with a Hack Frame

Was he aboard a rather tastefully painted Trek?
Tasteful  Are you a fan of Damian Hurst :roll:0 -

Not particularly but I did see the articles online with all his custom painted Trek bikes that he was using during the tour. I think it's just amazing to see the time and effort that goes into making such a bike and just hope they raise a load when auctioned as it's going to a good cause.0 -
Actually, wearing team kit is proven to make you faster :!:
Earlier this week I went into the cycling kit drawer and found I had no plain bibs left so went for full team kit.
Took 2 minutes off my previous fastest time to work.
So there you go. Proven beyond all shadow of a doubtJust Keep Pedalling0 -
Team jersey no, my primal Lynyrd Skynyrd jersey yes. (but normally only on the way home) also have a KISS and Aerosmith one for I am RAWK!0

I am looking for the Colombia-HTC jersey in green. I love 200m sprints.+++++++++++++++++++++

I fear I've commited the ultimate sin.
A Spesh Mountain team jersey, on a road bike
My 5 year old son chose it for me- that's my excuse anyway, and I'm sticking to it.
Does a yellow jersey have to have TDF written on it to make it a no no?
Or seeing as I live in Essex should I just not worry about it?0 -
I tend to find wearing my club Jersey is a no no in Exeter...the RNRM CC kit isn't liked much when you cycle past the local army barracks
I do however wear my cycle jerseys under my football kit when refereeing. find them useful for secreating extra pencils, notebooks, red and yellow cards and a couple energy gels.
Also If I am being really cheeky when I run the line for the Royals up at Lymptone my iPod fits nicely into my back pocket with the headphone wires running up my back. Nothing like a bit of music during a match. drows out the players moaningOfficers don't run, it's undignified and panics the men0 -

Prawny - what are these like? I'm umming and arring about bib shorts for the commute. Between the amount of rain we're having and with the cr@p weather still to come, not sure I see the point in buying some nice Castellis.FCN 2-4.

Bassjunkieuk wrote:Team jerseys are OK, it's things like KOM or the green jersey (especially in London) that you'd need to be wary of - they would be like a red rag to a bull to the Embankment Peloton :-D
Personally when I see someone in team kit I'll assume they are a more serious cyclist and I'm always a little more wary around them.
I may sometimes sport the green jersey, so what.....
I earned it

Wearing team kit is no different to chavs who wear football shirts with Rooney's name on the back.Life is like a roll of toilet paper; long and useful, but always ends at the wrong moment. Anon.

Slightly different surely...? They are wearing it as a supporter of the team, whereas a lot of cyclists seem to buy a team jersey simply because they like how it looks.0 -

OK so I have both the plain Nalini and the Liquigas Nalini. I can report that the plain ones are NOT the same as the team shorts. The team shorts are better, just more refined, with a different and better pad. However, at one third of the price the plain ones are dammed good value and are indeed good quality, comfortable shorts. I would recommend them for commuting.0 -
Wearing (eg) full Columbia kit makes it look like you are a Cavendish wannabee and perhaps ever so slightly ridiculous (unless you can match the performance!).
Wearing the Columbia top with plain black shorts is just a statement of support for your favourite team/rider. Nobody should sneer at you for that.Faster than a tent.......0 -

Just got a Columbia top over the weekend - I can't see anything wrong with wearing Team Tops I bought it because I like the way it looks and they're good quality. I do however feel that I now need to buy a new helmet - as my blue helmet just doesn't match. You'll not see nothing like the mighty Quin.0
