Garmin 705 made easy-help!

I recently bought a garmin 705 for a LEJOG trip to act as a map.

I now want to download the Wild Eadric sportive route onto it, but don't know where to start, it doesn't seem very intuitive or easy and I can't find any instructions.

Has anyone got a step by step or idiot's guide to downloading maps to a 705 unit?

Thanks

find a gpx file of said sportive
    connect 705 to pc
drag gpx file to gpx folder on 705
look in "saved rides" on 705 et voila!
    Manchester wheelers

    PB's
    10m 20:21 2014
    25m 53:18 20:13
    50m 1:57:12 2013
    100m Yeah right.
  • The instructions that come with Garmin are horseshit.

Check this guy out for some help:

  • Also consider bikehike.co.uk - save files as GPX track.
You may find when you load routes into the unit, you have to re-name them as .GPX (in upper case) as if saved as .gpx the unit seems not to find them.

Info is also available on Garmin's own website/forum - not sure if it's called bikely.com, or if that's something completely separate.
