F*** You - Lilly Allen

Am I just getting old? A bit of a fuddy duddy? But when did it become ok to write a song with the lyrics f*** you.

Lilley Allen must have made millions from this extremely stupid song (yeah I know there is an underlying message if you can be f***** to look for it).

Many radios play it constantly.

Now in my day, he says with a slight stutter, half - if not more - of the song would have been beeped out perhaps even banned. Why is it ok today?

I know too, yeah I try to stay in touch, that some rap songs and others use the F word a fair bit, but Allens song has it as the main chorus.

I think if I were to vote for the song of all time I hate the most this would probably be it.

Lily Allen offensive? Yes. The work fuck? Less so.

hmm. Seems you're happy with the use of the word though? ;)

lol. Just happened I was listening to the song when I wrote that message. I must have been influenced!!

I should say that I am not against swearing. I swear like any regular guy, especially at idiot drivers, and in a more convivial way with friends etc.

I just do not see how such a pointless song that is full of "f*** you" managed to get through censorship. What does that teach the young, does it make it all right to hear an eight your old use those words, even is s/he is using them in a jovial singing manner?

Is it played in the UK as well, or has it been censored there?

If I used the word here in the forums would it be automatically censored or is it just ok to listen to it a hundred times in one crap song but not read?

    I think she's quite funny.

In my day songs didn't get beeped at all. EMF in 1990 had a chorus with F*** in it. Still gets played even on children's programs... figure that!
Was played on blue peter once!

+2. I reckon she'd be quite rude and mucky as well. But then she'd probably write a song called 'That Chris Bloke Is Sh*te In The Sack'.

Perhaps you should post her a goose feather with instructions on how to purge so she can sort herself out?

I'm no fan but she's hardly fat.

Her song about me would contain the words "huge", "lengthy" and "all night long"

She has still turned out remarkably well adjusted, to say that her father is such a spanner! You are opening a "can of worms" with the sizest lobby. She ain't fat, by any shadow of a doubt. She is definitely not as good at dodging the salad, as some of the locals around here. Evans - never going to go bust!

I've already seen that song on a Will Young CD.

Surprised they are allowed to play that on the radio - but then when you get adults walking around in FCUK tee shirts I don't know why I should be surprised.

George Michael got away with the lyric years ago in his song "Outside". Beautiful South did the album version of "Don't marry her..." which was quite funny when the local radio station DJ, played the album version by mistake.

    Beautiful South live.

They were playing that song through the sound system in a supermarket in France this summer which I found quite funny at the time. I got chatting to a french guy who said that the french don't really consider the F word particuarly offensive.

Surprised no one is outraged by young Britters latest single

    Love me, hate me
Say what you want about me
But all of the boys and all of the girls are begging to If U Seek Amy

Heard is played in supermarket a few days ago and did have a laugh

Nothing wrong with using f*ck in a song - there's a grand old tradition for it - I still remember Too Drunk To Fu.ck turning up in the charts section in Smiths with the price sticker over the F word so as not to offend. It was just called "Too Drunk" in the press and on the radio.

Lily Allen though - I can't stand her or her sing song nursery rhyme tales of morality with a bleeding obvious twist. I have to turn my radio off if she gets played.
