I am new to mountain biking and I tried to bunny hop a curb but when the back tire hit it went flat in seconds.

It was within 30 min after i just bought it!

Why did this happen?

Maybe a pitch flat, the tyre compressing right down to the rim (check for two small holes - a snakebite). Could be a sign that you need to put more air in the tyres.

+1 practice more and make sure the rear wheel clears the curb :)

inner tubes can just explode on their own mind, just like mine did yesterday while sat locked up outside at work  !!!

Wrong tyre pressure plus hitting a rock (ie a snakebit) I guess. Buy a track pump with a guage and keep your tyre pressure above 30psi - perhaps start with 35 or 40psi.

That's pretty common, although you were pretty unlucky to get one so soon after getting the bike! But it's not a sign that anything's wrong.

Second the advice about tire pressure and finesse- even with correct pressure that can happen but some folk do seem to get more than others so it's not just down to luck!

sounds like a snake bite (pinch puncture) should be easy to fix and prevent, folow before mensioned advice
