Finally my company has released the bike to work scheme with Halfords.

Went in the other day. Still like the Vulcan disc (red frame really) the Kraken, they had a black GT XCR? GT3 and then there is is the mid range boardmans.

I'm not going to spend the full grand so do I go for the Vulcan and upgrade as things wear out or spend more and go for hydraulic brakes etc? too much choice is my problem me thinks.

Looking around £500 - 700 quid

All thoughts greatfully received.

I wouldn't upgrade - costs more, and the other frames are better.

Hard to fault the Fury really for a general trails bike.

GT Aggressor XCR would be my choice, I have just sold my Avalanche 3 and i am saving for one of these, lovely looking bike and great to ride.
    Full Susser - GT I-Drive XCR 5

Hardtail - GT Aggressor XC 2

Road Bike - GT GTR Series 4

narrowed down to the 09 fury or the cheaper 08 vulcan disc... I just like that red from too much, handlbars on the vulcan are too wide for me though... i;d need to cut them down if poss.

  • Get one of the boardmans best bang for your buck get good reviews in all the mags. sold by halfords only I purchased a carrera road bike last year on the scheme, wish i got a boardman instead
  • A friend has got exactly the same choice to make, it looks like he's going for the Carrera Kraken 08. Seems a good bike, and it's got a £70 discount on it.

Remember halfords say they can source any bike.
  • the kraken gets rave reviews, if i was looking in that range the kraken would be the one i would buy

I recon im the tinyest horse you will ever see
  • Get a Boardman, the carrera's will feel no where near as good.

Also consider Voodoo's, last years Wanga is £650.

But I would buy a Boardman Team if it was me.
