There's a second hand bike for sale in my area, Orbit Pro road bike Reynolds 531c 23 inch frame.
The Spec...
Reynolds 531c 23" frame with Reynolds 531 fork - hand built and brazed in England (top tube measures 22.5")
14 speed Shimano 300EX drivechain with Shimano Biopace chainrings
Shimano RX100 shifters (downtube mounted), indexed rear shifter
Shimano RX100 hubs with quick-release
Campagnolo Gamma Oxide Strada alloy rims, stainless spokes
Maxxis tyre on rear (quite new), Michelin tyre on front (old but OK)
Triplex side-pull brakes with nearly new blocks
WTB SSTX seat
Shimano alloy pedals with cages/straps (the pedals shown in the photos are my Look clipless pedals, which I'm keeping unless you really want them, in which case I'll probably throw them in if you twist my arm)
Specialized pump (a bit knackered)
Can probably get this reasonably cheap as it's 15+ yrs old. Do you think it would be worth buying and updating some of the components?
Any thoughts or experience of a similar type of bike??

I've got the same bike. Built for me in 1990, although with 105 and Amrosio wheels on. It's in fantastic condition, (although I have looked after it) and I still pootle about on it as a change from the best bike. Actually thinking about turning it into a single speed, but that's a whole new thread."There's a shortage of perfect breasts in this world, t'would be a pity to damage yours."0

Sounds fine. If you want STI shifters, you'll either need to buy Sora 7 speed or buy a whatever speed Shimano shifter, a new cassette, and a new chain. You might check the hubs too, if you were intending on doing that. Some Shimano 7 speed cassette hubs won't fit 8 speed cassettes. Would make a pretty nice bike though.0
