Can anyone tell me (or us) what actually happens to all of the bikes that are stolen then recovered but for some reason never claimed?

Do the police melt them down or sell them off or something?

    I have them all

Everything in moderation ... except beer
Beer in moderation ... is a waste of beer

If riding an XC race bike is like touching the trail,
then riding a rigid singlespeed is like licking it
... or being punched by it, depending on the day

anyone know which one covers Scotland?
  • Hello!, First post and just spied this thread, I went to this one a few years ago, lots of rubbish but the odd gem... Wasnt looking for a bike at the time so didnt look around the bikes too long, but there were LOADS of them. Ranging from halfords numbers to pretty good ones. Although, not sure if they pick out the most decent ones to sell privately, or by another means as didnt see many decent hardtails or full suspension. Might be lucky though I suppose.

Theres one next weekend and another mid-september I think.
Its a long day though, lots of waiting around for your lot (unless its first out of course!)

Ayrshire, they do Lothian police and strathclyde police lost property.

Visit the homepage of your local police force and there will be a link to their auctions.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.
  • We have an auction coming up over here 2nd week in Sept. I'm looking to pick up a commuter to run SS, but may see what else is on offer too.
