Is there a problem with buying "new old stock" - a bike from 2005 / 2006 ish?

You should be paying really low bucks for that kind of stuff though even if its new ...

  • £1200 for a Trek 5200 (I believe) - the one that Lance Armstrong rode. Carbon frame/forks etc, Ultegra kit throughout.

    Seemed good value to me.
  • Edit - after some web research I've found that it is actually the "Discovery Channel" model. Any comments appreciated!

Even though the bike is new as soon as you ride it the bike becomes a four year old bike so the only issue is that it will have a significantly lower resale value.

If you intend to keep the bike then if it is what you want I would not have an issue with an old stock bike.
  • No reason why it should be a problem. As LeighB says.. If it's what you want. go for it

  • Resale isn't an issue as I'd hope to hold it for approx 6 years regardless of new or old. Is it then a good price?

Resale isn't an issue given that it's a discovery channel bike and some fan-boy will pay mega-bucks for it.

    Good bike, now buy it!
