Afternoon all,
Fairly new to cyling so be gentle!! LoL
I have a Felt running a FSA Vero 3-Piece Aluminum Crankset with 50/39/30T at the moment and i want to swap this to a double.
Can you guys advise on what i would need to take into account when i swap this, i.e. would i need a new bottom brack if i stick with an FSA branded etc???
Help is always appriecated

Yes you will need a slightly different axle length for a double. It may be the opportunity to go to external bottom brackets as the traditional crank sets are getting fewer all the time.Neil

Sorry mate you have lost me here can you confirm on the axle???0 -
A double chainset uses a narrower bottom bracket axle than a triple. However unless you already have your Vero double you may find this years vero or equivalent is a two piece chainset. This is the way chainsets are going so it's probably best to bite the bullet now as you will have to change your BB anyway.Neil

Ok thanks mate it sounds like it would be best just to splash the cash and get a full new 105 chainset0

FSA will be significantly better...but maybe just maybe check the existing crank length to ensure you get the right thing...0

Your next question should be "What shifters do I have?". Some Shimano shifters will only work with triples, and some with doubles. That means you would have to change the left shifter to make it work properly, adding to the expense. I'm not sure I would bother - run the FSA Vero 'til you wear out the chainrings, then buy a Tiagra or 105 crank; unless FSA have improved a lot recently, I would never spend my money on an FSA crank when I could buy a Shimano, Campagnolo or Stronglight crank.0

I didnt even consider shifters TBH, i think i might leave it as is as the bike is only my first road bike so it may be best to keep it as is.
I dont really want to be throwing money at somthing that isnt really going to make that much of a change.
Thanks for the advice guys0
