Shortening my stem

just experimenting with a shorter stem, changed my 90mm for a 70mm. the bike feels much better in the air and makes steep drops easier as i can get further off the back of the bike.
the issue i now have is that i cant corner nearly as fast, especially flat corners as i just dont have the grip, is this always the compromise or will my riding adapt over time. Also had my first big over the bars at speed which was probably down to my riding position and not being used to the bars being that little bit closer, anyone else had similar issues or got any words of wisdom?

About the cornering, probably more weight is at the back wheel than before. Less on the front.0

I think coz the shorter stem makes everything more lively, you have to react quicker by shifting your weight around more if you get what I mean? Try and find your position limits by chucking it around on an easy section till you get used to it.
I've been used to a 70mm stem for a while now, but my new bike came with a 90mm stem - I can only describe it as like driving a car without power stearing when compared to my 70mm stem! Slower and more laboured - needless to say, a shorter stem is in the post!!http://i556.photobucket.com/albums/ss9/ ... lurLT2.jpg
