Put as simply as I can.
WOULD LIKE: Cannonda CAAD9 105 Compact. In budget. Perfect spec.

MIGHT HAVE TO GO WITH: Cannondale CAAD9 Tiagra 105 Compact. 2009 stock running out, can't be *rsed to wait 'til 2010s (inevitably) more expensive/lower spec'd bikes come out. On the up side however, the Tiagra bike is roughly £300 cheaper.

Tiagra worth a punt? £300 for shiny bits (wheels, etc) and beer, and I can run the Tiagra stuff 'til it dies, whereupon I'll have amassed the funds to replace the lot (as would be required with the whole 9sp Tiagra/10sp 105 and upwards thing) with something naughty and shiny. At least this way I'll have bagged the frame and some bits, whereupon if I wait, I could miss out entirely...

  • Some thoughts:

I don't know if you've considered second hand, but there are a couple of CAAD9s on Ebay at the moment (both Tiagra, one 54cm and the other 58cm). Both look in decent condition.

I have a Tiagra CAAD9, bought with the intention of upgrading as time goes on. There is certainly nothing wrong with Tiagra, although I'm sure that 105 is better. I would have thought that you would want to upgrade the wheels on both the Tiagra and 105 bikes.

Finally, Evans Cycles have the 105 Compact (in white) at £899 (58cm frame only) and the 105 triple in a variety of sizes at £999.

    Hope this is helpful

105 is a much nicer groupset, I think it's worth the money, you'll notice the difference in the long run.
