Buying only one- titanium?

I've hummed and haa'd, spoken with mates and looked around.
The consensus seems to be go for titanium, as I want comfort (primarily), lightness (secondary) and durability- bad at unclipping and falling over.
My budget will accept £1500 ( have learned about CTW scheme which helps).
Some of the Carbon bikes at £1000 look great.
Do I take the extra hit for titanium- I am 45, and in 10 years or so policies mature, and if still cycling, can look again!

Agreed - if I had to choose one I'd choose titanium - luckily I've got 5 others to choose from two titanium, two carbon and two steel at present..Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

Definitely Ti if only one bike, and with mudguard clearance for winter riding.Carlsberg don't make cycle clothing, but if they did it would probably still not be as good as Assos0
