Does anyone out there have or remember Frames made by Cliff (can't remember last name) at Charlie Alexanders shop in James Street in Tiger bay, Cardiff? I believe that they were all badged Alexander(?)
I remember being a mere schoolboy visiting the shop and watching Cliff assemble the frame tubes on a jig and braze them, he also sprayed the frames on site. The building is alas no more, but it used to be 5 stories, the topmost being the 19dot year room that housed the old stuff including wooden sprint rims and hundreds of pigeons!
I think that Shirley Bassey was from the next street.
The area is now part of the Cardiff bay redevelopement which is fabulous place, but it's nice to remember the people and what went before.
