I'm interested in doing this as I know next to nothing about my dad's side of the family and unfortunately due to an illness his memory is no longer that great.

Anybody on here traced their family tree? What/how did you do it?

  • My better half has traced her family back to the 1300's.
You need to use sites like genes reunited, ancestry and freebmd.
Also search through any documents your dad may have as you will need to know when his parents were born and where and when their (your grandparents) marriage was.
Once you have info about your grandparents you can then start to look at censuses. Then you can find out who was living in the house with them be it their children or possibly other family members or servants/employees.
In a few easy strokes the other night my better half found out where mygreat grandparents lived and what they did for jobs.

    Can we fix it?
    Yes we can!
