I was going to post a long message to those who attacked my first post but having thought about it I cant be arsed. tigers vs sheep, adventure blah blah - its all BS.
Maybe I am guilty of assuming a little too much about this guy but so is everyone else. (the comment about he was a lecturer so I am sure he had lived aand new how to live or whatever it was was a true gem)Closet jockey wheel pimp whore.0 -
I dont know were this post is going.
Just thought I would post the news and people have seemed to take offence.
I have just said, he died at what he loved doing, why do people got to start taking about this and that.
Its just a post.
And to the last post, mate you are new here and you want to start hacking on people for having an opinion.... are you 13?
Just leave well enough along, a fellow MTb'r died and thats all I post.0 -

Err what? No I am not 13, new here? so the f*** what? I stated my opinion on what I felt were a few ill placed comments and people came back and stated they didn't like my opinions - that's what discussion forums are for.
You have assume he died doing what he loved - I read the new article and the Brighton Argus article and it says he liked playing the accordian and backgammon - it doesn't actually wax lyrical about his years of experience and enthusiasm of mountain bike or indeed of mountain terrain at all.
I am therefore led to believe that just possibly his enthusiasm may have outweighed his ability and he possibly had no place being out there without a guide or assistance. I am sorry he died - certainly I have no doubt he will be sorely missed by his friends, family and students he sounds like a really nice chap - but I think one can still express an opinion that possibly his death was caused by misadventure rather than purely a sense of adventure.Closet jockey wheel pimp whore.0 -

Or did I? :roll:Closet jockey wheel pimp whore.0 -
Sorry you must have posted when I did.
Was talking to that LM guy
You need to calm down dude.
If you look 2 posts about mine or yours, there was a guy saying we were all 13.
It is possib;e for two people to post at the same time.
I think mods should lock this thread, people are really starting to sound like they are in kindergarden.
I was just a simple post, he was a mountain biker, sad day. he obviously loved it, or why would he be in the alps biking.
Its not like the guy picked up an appollo from halfrauds and thought.. uhmm i might tackel one of the toughest terrains in the world.0 -
Ah sorry dude. How embaressing! :shock:Closet jockey wheel pimp whore.0

Happens to everyone.
People want to get in there to be the first to post, but someone beats them to it.
And they get the same response.

he could easily have died while out with his mates, what difference does it make if he was on his own or not.
we all know the risks involved, you take a risk crossing the road though, whats the difference if its up a mountain on a bike. it was just his turn when he fell, like folk have said, if you could choose how you go, 60 year old in the Alps falling off a bike wouldnt be too bad.i spent all me money on whisky and beer!!!0 -

Non at all if he was dead on impact, however there is a good chance that he lay there bleeding out not able to move. It's also very inconsiderate to put rescuers at risk to look for your corpse.counterculture wrote:

The fact that it's a remote location, weather changes in minutes, harsh terrain, you know up a fucking mountain. As opposed to a flat road near civilsation.counterculture wrote:like folk have said, if you could choose how you go, 60 year old in the Alps falling off a bike wouldnt be too bad.
Are you fucking kidding me, are you? You know nothing about this man to presume he wanted to go like that. Besides, I'm sure he really wanted to bleed out with all his bones smashed to pieces isolated on a mountain.
You really are a fucking cretin.0
