Robert Millar - as long as he was in a talkative mood. It would be a bit of a let down to meet one of your heroes and all he did was stare into his pint.

I don't believe he'd be in a dress but if he was then that would be up to him.

Of the current crop - Probably Wiggo because he seems kinda interesting, honest and has good taste in music. So we wouldn't need to talk cycling all the time.

I'd like to chat to the old timers though. The 2 most memorable cycling conversations I've had have been with old men. I just love hearing about cycling back in the day.
Scottish and British...and a bit French

Sean Kelly - likes a Pironi

Eddy Merckx - apparently does a cracking Elvis impression when he's had a few.

Had a few pots of ale with Sean Kelly in March. Great bloke, tells a good story and can consume Guiness with frightening ease. Also he has bartering skills like no other.....managed to negotiate a full €2 off 3 dodgy dvd's from some pub pestering porn pedlar. €2! now that's good going!

    Andy.

    Andy.

Are you seriously telling me that Sean Kelly likes to burp the worm?
  • Andei Tafie for his descriptions of his wins in Roubaix and Flanders.

And Boonen for the crack (see what i did there  )

Robert Millar, i bet he has loads of storys he could tell and ive always enjoyed reading articles he writes.

You want to sit in a bar to have a beer with a man dressed as a women??

If he wants to turn up dressed as a women thats up to him i have no hang up with that beside even dressed as a women he would still leave me miles behind on a bike.:lol:

    Good point.

I actually have shared a dinner table with Robert and his stories are great.

As you've enjoyed his company then you should be the last person to talk the p*ss out of Robert. I hope you feel embarrassed for making a comment like that. I think you should show some respect.

    Pendleton V or
    Armitstead L or
Cippolini M (there'll probably be a bellisimo cast off available)

Chris Horner. Very articulate, great sense of humor seems like he'd be both fun and good, intelligent cycling conversation.
  • 'Big' George Hincapie.

Although beers with Victoria Pendleton equally appealing (for very different reasons)
Litespeed Tuscany, Hope/Open Pro, Ultegra, pulling an Extrawheel trailer, often as not.

    FCR 4 (I think?)

Boardman for me. He's a bit of a geek and I am too. Wiggins would be second choice and I bet McEwen would be a good laugh.

Kreuziger. Because Czech beer is the best, and I can speak a bit of Czech. Well, I can swear in Czech!

    +1 for Robert Miller

(Though if Niki Gudex calls he may have to take a rain check.)

Which Pro, past or present, would you most like to have a beer with and why?

I'll start with Chris Boardman, absolute legend as far as I'm concerned. Watching his career as I grew up really got me hooked on cycling.

..........either him or Ricco, so I could smack him in the face.

Boardman always seem to come across as a bit of a bellend to me..;-) I think I'd be more interested in someone a bit more obvious like Merckx or Pantani.

The Garmin gang. I've had beers with Christina Meier and Sven Tuft some years back, and they're super fun. Throw in Ryder, DZ Nuts, Millar and co. and that must be one cracking evening.

If Emilia Fahlin came along, I would not mind at all.

For me it would have to be the following:

    Tom Boonen
    Marco Pantani
Johan Museeuw (met him at Palma airport after the 2000 tour of Majorca)
Mark Cavendish (gotta be done :-) )
    Bradley Wiggins
Djamolidine Abdujaparov - just to ask him how he used to sprint like that :-D
    2010 Lynskey R230
    2013 Yeti SB66
