If you have not long been riding a road bike, you will get it.

I did at the start but dont get it now and did not get it for too long.

wears off after a couple of years, quicker if you do neck strengthening exercises.

Is the bike too big? Is the stem too long and you're stretched out so it's the looking up and straining your neck type pain?

This might give you a rough idea:

  • If you only have slight neck pain then I wouldn't worry. I did when I first started riding, but after only a week the soreness disappeared. I also used to suffer constantly from sore back and sore knees, but since taking up cycling that's gone too! I think it's only a problem if your neck hurts more than your bum :)
  • Since I got neck pain I've never looked back  sorry bout that.

I sometimes get a pain in the neck after riding....

"have you been on that bloody bike again?"

Usually goes away after a beer though
