Quick Question

At work and I've got a 30mile commute back, but the sandwich van didnt turn up!

All I've eaten today is a bowl of fruit and fibre, but I do have 1litre of lucozade Sport and 3 Gels.

My question is, do people consider that a gel before I start and then regular drinking of the lucozade with a gel every 30 mins be enough to get me back (trying to train on climbs so 600m of climbing total) or should I stop on the way (no bike lock) to get some supplies...

One question; do you have a choice?

I could catch a train after 15 miles, but don't particularly want to.

Have you got enough / any water? If you can keep well hydrated 30 miles shouldn't be too difficult on 3 gels & a bottle of sugar.

Been drinking a fair amount of water through the day, so should be fully topped up. Then there's the litre of sugar

Did you ride in to work?

Should be fuelled enough for an hours ride I'd have thought.

Personally I would have fainted through hunger by now!

  • I did 24 miles at lunch time on the 2 crumpets and an apple juice box I had for breakfast, and a bottle of SiS electrolyte drink during the ride. I had my lunch after the ride. I think you could do 30 miles on 3 gels, water and drink. I don't think you're going to bonk in 30 miles. The worst that could happen is that you feel weaker towards the end.

    Cheers for the replies guys.

Yes I did ride to work.

Guess I will know at the end of it how much I need to take on future rides.

Just go for it. You have a few gels and a drink. So its not the end of the world. If you start dying at least you'll know next time, and you can collapse on the sofa when you get in.

Am just going out now after having a big bowl of pasta for a late lunch. Sure that will keep me going for a while! Suppose bonking once in a while makes you realise being ''tired'' really isn't that bad!
