my local lbs is offering a 2003 Litespeed tuscany frame without forks for £850. The frame is new just old stock, does anyone think this is a good deal or should they knock the price down a bit more?

Sounds a lot to me for what is in essence a 6 year old design and build!

Plus - didn't litespeed have issues with the headtube cracking near the bearing inserts? - there was a massive thread on here a while back about it. (or what that a different american Ti producer?)

I got my Tuscany complete, with a mix of Ultegra and Dura-Ace, plus Cosmic Carbone wheels, for £1850 - I'd say you should haggle them down to £500 max.

Bloody superb bike though. No cracks in my head tube, hoorah.
Litespeed Tuscany, Hope/Open Pro, Ultegra, pulling an Extrawheel trailer, often as not.

    FCR 4 (I think?)

Or get a Van Nicholas Chinook for something more modern, should work out about the same :D

It appears litespeed did have some issues with their integrated headset design and this years range and indeed since 2006 all have traditional head tubes, although I havent come across any issues to do with the tuscany frame itself in this regard. Im going to have a chat
with the guys in the shop to see if I can negotiate a better price.
