Good bike?

I've spotted a Saracen Venturer 3 2008 on the internet. I'm going to be using it to ride on a fairly long bike holiday.

I've got no idea about the weight or reliablity from any reviews, anyone rate this bike?

It's a hybrid, don't like 'em myself. From what i've read on here they are not ideal for road or off road. Have you thought about getting a drop handle bar road bike? What's you5r budget? What sort of surfaces will you be riding?

well I have a buget of around £250, I managed to find this on ebay for around £200. Another alternative someone suggested was a Carrera Subway which is meant to be good value.

I'd prefer a Carrera or Raleigh for the budget.

How about the Claud Butler Levante. Is that a good bike?

Well if your definately looking for a flat bar bike then i'd go for one that takes 700c size wheels, the Carrera Subway is o.k, mu workmate had one but recently bought himself a Specialized sirrus and loves it.

There are plenty of bargains to be had out there, will it be used for riding only on road or what other types of cycling are you planning on doing with it?

P.s what made you look at the Claude Butler? Are you able to use cycle to work scheme? Because if it's this you've spotted then it is only available at that price throu the scheme..........

P.p.s how tall are you because you need to get a bike that fits well otherwise you'll be in for a back achingly un-comfortable ride.........

Thanks Stefano, im 6ft, so looking for a hybrid at around 21" frame (is that right?). I saw the levant at around £200+ on ebay. I think it was a couple of years old. I'm buying the bike for road use, for a long (900km) cycling hol. I've also seen the GIANT ESCAPE R2 for a good price, how does this stand up against the specialize sirrus or the muddy fox?
