Oh dear, if it is true, whatever will all those Campag users who look down on their noses at low life Shimano users do.

    Commit hari-kari.

It's hara kiri. Hara as in stomach and kiri as in cut.

There's nothing snobby about well engineered components designed to last, made by well paid workers.

That is why I buy Shimano.

I don't mean to labour the point but being snobby about Campag V Shimano is exactly what you're doing here. It's pretty snobby to go around calling all Campag owners "Pretentious Twats" just because they didn't buy Shimano.

Nope I'm not at all being snobby there. And I've re read my post and I cant see where I called "campag owners "pretentious Twats" just because they didn't buy Shimano"

Nobody ever got themselves a Shimano tattoo...
  • Appologies, Will.

It was an earlier post by bobtbuilder which referred to campag owners as pretentious twats and I mistakenly lumped you in with that.

It is annoying when you get some snobbish talk regarding Campag V Shimano as you rightly said. I just seem to be running into a lot of people who look down on Campagnolo simply because it's less commonly available.

Two days ago, I had a crank changed from square to ultra torque at my LBS. Rather than reset up the front deraileur the mechanic tried to tell me that Campag was "sh*t" and that "that's as good as the shifting will get you should have bought Shimano".

That would be fair enough if it was true but it wasn't. I knew it was bullshit so I had to talk him into resetting the inner stop and the cable tension and it shifted perfectly. Basically, although he's a nice enough bloke otherwise, he was being lazy and was trying to use the brand of components as an excuse. The mechanic was quite young so I'll right it off as a bit of immaturity on his part but If I'd turned up to the shop with Shimano, SRAM or an other brand I'd be just as pissed off.

So you do get snobby attitudes on both sides.

I've never understood people getting tattoos like that. I mean it's not like you own the company or that you owe them any allegiance. It's not "your M&S" it belongs to the shareholders and they get a piece of paper to remind them not a tattoo...

I remember 'back in the day' people getting Technics and Mitsubishi (as in the E) tattoos  . Stooopid.
