White socks or black???

Right, proper important discussion now.
I’ve always been a “black socks for shoes while at work, white socks for trainers for everything else” man and this was the case while I was just using my old trainers with white socks and flats while riding. But, having gone and bought some SPD shoes in black, I put my usual whities on and the OH gave me a look of horror, “You can’t go out looking like that!!!” (Why she therefore lets me out without wearing a full face balaclava is beyond me???) I put on some black socks which passed approval, but it just didn’t feel right to old fashioned me.
So, is MTBing a white sock or black sock pursuit?

Go fluorescent yellow! That way, if you get injured in the middle of nowhere, you'll be spotted at night.
I also have no girlfriend or fashion sense, so to me it makes no difference what you wear

I haven't worn white socks since I was a mod in the 70's. Black is the way!
Anyway white will get grubby and you'll only be able to wear them for one ride, whilst black socks you can wear for weeks on end before washing! Pictures are better than words because some words are big and hard to understand.

Trainer socks for me - whatever colour comes out of the drawer.You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.0 -

I tended to wear no socks in summer but thought that inpractical for walking/riding so I picked up a set of 6 pairs in the asda bargain bin for a whole 75 pence! They barely come out of my trainers but do the job. And since they're not visible much it doesn't matter how grubby they look

Dark blue sock guy socks with a blue star. I don't care too much though, I'm wearing a bright green top, checked shorts and a helmet - I'll look stupid to 99% of the population anyway.0

Black, not a fan of white socks at all. My PE teacher used to say "white socks or no socks" and I was much happier with the "no socks" option."The problem was, I was still using my eyes even though I had them shut"

I only own white socks, i think black socks with baggy shorts and a pair of vans looks stupid (even though i look stupid anyway).

The problem with white socks and mountainbiking is mud. Mud on white socks seems to stain so black ankle socks it is for me (not full length)+ 1001 posts reset by the cruel cruel moderators!

Gotta be dark grey ankle socks for me.
White with black shoes is a big no-no plus as has already been said not good for muddy conditions.
Black with black shoes is the weapon of choice in my area for neds, an even bigger no-no then.Boardman Hybrid Pro

Usually, no socks - feet dry quicker. Excpet in winter of course when I do wear socks, black ones usually. If you wear white ones they won't be white for long!You don't need eyes to see, you need vision0

exactly my point. darker colurs hide the dirt. that way my mum cant see the mud and i dont get complained at heheheh 0
