Booked up my trains and B&B for Whitehaven to Tynemouth...
Having seen some video footage of the ride around Stanhope, I have a question about tyres for my Specialized Crossroad

What tyres should I use? Currently got slick (28s) Spesh Armadillos - it seems I need more grip, or are slick road tyres fine0

The armadillos are very tough and can cope with rough paths taken with reasonable care. A tread pattern won't really enhance your grip on the loose, unless its full knobbly, but that would ruin the road performance. Take 2 spare tubes and a good pump and puncture kit.0

What alfablue said.
From what I know, the off-road sections of the C2c are pretty short. If it's dry the Armadillos should be fine. You could fit something like Continental Twisters or Michelin Cyclo X tyres but it doesn't seem worth it - if it is really muddy you might as well push or take the road options.
There's lots of useful information here:

I thought so... it was obviously an offroad bit that I'd seen and my armadillos have been on worse in the past so should be fine as long as it's dry (ish)

From what I remember (long time ago) there is a length with unmade path, gravelly/small rocks, and a short descent on a muddy track (which was dry when I went).0

All I need is dry weather and I'll be fine then - thanks for advice0
