All round forks

Hi chaps.
I am currently starting a self-build and want some advice on which forks to buy. I will be purchasing a Identiti Mr Hyde frame in the very near future. I have been told to limit the travel to 130mm so am looking for a 130mm fork which can take a few knocks but isn't too heavy for around £250. Quite happy to go down the second hand route to get a better fork for a lower price (obviously if it's in good nick).
Any ideas much appreciated.

What hub do you have ie will you be requiring a 20mm bolt thru fork?0
-
Revelation or Pike U-turn would be my first stop. Depends if you want air or coil and if your front hub can take 20mm bolt through (pikes are 20mm, revs can be either) as SS saysEverything in moderation ... except beer
Beer in moderation ... is a waste of beer
If riding an XC race bike is like touching the trail,
then riding a rigid singlespeed is like licking it
... or being punched by it, depending on the day0 -
Sorry chaps, haven't even considered the wheelset yet. The build is very much in the early stages so I'm just getting ideas for now.
Will probably stick to coil as the price tends to be lower.0 -
I'd consider the wheel first. Remember some hubs are convertible.
Pikes or Toras sound ideal.0 -
In that case, any advice/suggestions for the wheels Sonic?
Lets say £150ish, tough but not too weighty, 26".0 -
just had a look on the magura web site and i never knew they did suspension forks, they seem well priced as well (chain reaction cycles web site) and have some good reviews. they have a good guide so you are able to see what each type of fork if for. hope this helps0

Cheers GRJ84, will look into those. Not heard much about Magura forks before.
What do people think of these? http://www.jejamescycles.co.uk/rockshox ... 32048.html
Are they suitable for a bit of harder riding now and again?0 -
Yep!
The Hope Pro 2 is a popular front hub. How much do you weigh?0 -
I'd get a pair of decent condition 06/07 dj1 in 130mm probably. Insanely tough.0

have a look at this link you will find all the information on here on the magura forks
http://www.magura.com/fileadmin/user_up ... 2009_E.pdf
i have had a look on the web for reviews and they have all been good, i am also looking for new forks and i think i will go for a pair of magura's as they seem well priced and equiped0 -
I'm around 80kg Sonic.
Cheers for the info guys, much appreciated.
Gonna go down the 20mm route btw, think Pike's are the fork for me at the moment but I will definitely look into the Maguras.0 -
I'd go for the Mavic 721 rim for very hard riding, the 719 for an allround rim. Double butted spokes.
Also check out DMR Revolver, Nuke Proof Generator, Shimano SLX and Halo Spin Doctor for 20mm hubs.0
