Hi, I mainly mountain bike - but have a road bike for occasional evening use / commuting / london to Brighton etc.......I am currently replacing my trusty apollo tdf-100 with one of the following.
Trek 1.2Double, Spesh allez 24, spesh secteur.....I have worked out that the spesh mechs etc are slightly lower quality than the ones on the trek.(2300/2200 compared to sora) ..however I am potentially drawn to the geometry of the secteur...........I don't really know much about any of this, other than the secteur seems to be billed as a more comfortable / relaxed geometry bike...is this the case ? I have a severely mashed collar bone and right shoulder, busted knee-caps and a wonky wrist......for the type of cycling I do (ie NOT racing, but wanting fast progress, 50 - 100 miles a day) would the secteur be a more comfortable option than the others ? or is there bugger all in it............
These are my only three choices, so please no matter how well intentioned don't suggest something else

the secteur is the same geometry as the roubaix, but produced in aluminium rather than carbon - so yes it will be more comfortable. It has a slightly longer wheelbase for stability and a higher front end to give a slightly more relaxing riding position.
I have a roubaix which is really very comfortable - they could never get a model under £1000 though which i guess meant they lost a few sales at price point as there was previously on the allez elite at that sort of price.
it should be nice - there was a thread here the other day from people who had got the first ones in the uk!0 -
thanks for the response0

i have roubaix comp - got it for comfort and (eventually) longer rides - very comfy so far - not as quick on the flat as a mates Pinnacle but better up hills and comfy in the saddle/over bumps
it has those 'Zertz' insert things - not sure if Secteur has tham, being Alu, so made ride a bit differently
post us which one you go for
cheers0 -
No, the sectaur doesnt have the zertz inserts, but i have a Roubaix comp and have just bought a Tarmac Pro also, the roubaix and the Sectaur are indeed similar if it was me i would go for the sectaur no Question!
This is purely based on the quality of the bike overall and the longevity aswell, but its your choice not ours happy to advise though.
Hope you find your pick a happy one, good hunting !!!G.H.Allum0 -
Secteur does have Zertz.. at least some of them do.
Looks like a decent bike, and they are in the shops now.0 -
Hopefully have a good look at the Secteur on weds - am cycling South Downs Way tomorrow !......Will let you know about the 'zerts' - think it will be a better machine for my needs than the Trek 1.2D 2009 ?0

Picking up Secteur on Saturday...Spoke to LBS who were doing the Trek for me on cyclescheme at work, and they are happy to swap to the Secteur..0

Fantastic - picked up my new Secteur on Saturday beautiful....As I am relatively new to the roadie world, I am incredibly impressed. Also got some SDP's and spesh road shoes...first time clipped in, what a difference..took a while to get the cleats in the right place for comfortable knees, but well worth the effort..have to get some for the MTB now
Thanks for your opinions boys 'n'girls....for what its worth, I think the Secteur is a great entry level machine, more than capable for my use0
