First full sus - help needed!

Hi!
I have been riding a hard tail for about three years and recently bought my first full sus - a GT ID5.
I took it around my regular haunt (Carron Valley) and found the uphill very difficult - the bike was heavy and bouncy - it was like trying to ride a jelly elephant uphill!
There is no lockout on the Fox RP2 and from forks which are air forks.
If I increase the pressure in them using a pump will it make the ride more stable?
I also find the pedals bottom out which makes me think there is too much sag. I am 15st so that could be something to do with it! If I increase the pressure in the shock will this help?
Going downhill is fantastic - quite like the Juicy three's which took a bit of getting used to after my Giant MPH brakes.
All in all very knackering - I just hope it gets better as I get used to the bike / improve the set up.
Many thanks.
Gordon

How much pressure are you running in your shock ? Did it come with a manual, it sounds like your definately running it low, mine is a different shock, a fox float, but I run mine at 170 psi and i weigh about 12 stone, the i-drive is a decent platform for climbing.0

Hi!
I have no idea what pressure it is at. It was pre-set in the shop - Halfords!
I didnt get any instructions for anything on the bike which doesnt help.
Will have to buy myself a shock pump to test the pressure.
Cheers.

You need to set the sag of the suspension, then the rebound damping.0

have a look on fox's website there should be info on there for weights and psi settings.

i am 21 stone tho so i woudlnt try 250 psi it wil shake ya inside apart lmfao0 -
While the pressure is proportinal to your weight, the design of the bike and your weight distribution has a large effect on what pressure you need - and it will vary on different bikes because of this (ie leverage ratios)
You are best off going on how much the suspension sags. 25% is a good start.0
