Dear Forumistas

I'm looking for some views and comments on the merits etc of the Scott Speedster S60 Flatbar or the Ridgeback Flight 02. I'm looking for a fast commuting bike to replace a 20+ year old bike. I've looked at equivalents from Giant, Trek, Marin, other Scotts and have settled for one of these two.

How well does aluminium stand up to the day to day stuff of being knocked about? e.g. when locked to a bike rack somewhere, I've looked at an S50 and in places the tubes could be deformed [flexed] slighly with pressure from my thumb, which is a little disconcerting (as far as I can tell the frame of the S50 and the S60 FB are the same, save for the mudguard attachment points).

When I get a chance I shall test ride them - if possible, my local LBSs can't get hold of the current S60 FB in my size (58cm) as their suppliers haven't got any left, might have to wait for the 2010 version (but I do like the present S60 FB's colour scheme), I could be tempted to buy quickly if I can find this year's on the web with a decent discount, (I would prefer to buy locally) there seem to be some but I'm dubious that they'll have any in stock either.

Sensible comments please :)

Thanks in anticipation.
