Can you use MTB skewers on a road bike?

MTB skewers have a 135mm width, while road ones are 130mm.

Any problem using the 135mm ones on a road bike? Does this just mean tightening them more?

Im not sure of there will be enough thread left to tighten up to the 130mm.

Why do you want to use MTB skewers?

    Cheaper. By a lot.

You can, it is probably best to chop it down and lengthen out the threads. However it will be holding your hub in, so is it worth it...

Providing there is still spare thread when set for 130mm then no problem. I would cut the spare off as it could hurt someone in a prang (you probably). Not an item I would go for 'cheap' on. They do rather an important job and are not expensive. All mine came with the wheels.

Nice skewers ARE expensive. But all points taken on board and order cancelled.
