I pop into my LBS to get a new top with rear pockets ('cos I ain't got one!) and manage the following:

Assist a lady getting kitted out on the cycle to work scheme who was looking at an Altura nightvision jacket for summer commuting (!) I used the term "boil in the bag" at least 3 times.
Explained what Chamois cream was to an assistant who had never heard of it when a customer asked. The customer called it "that stuff you put in your shorts to stop chafing"
Got talking to said customer who is buying said chamois cream (he got some) as he is starting a John O'Groats to Lands End run on Saturday
Had a detailed discussion carrying on the one about energy intake on longer rides (seemed like an ideal person to ask) and he agreed with everything said on here :D
Argued at length about whether I should get a Boardman Carbon bike or a Trek Madone or the Specialized Roubaix on the CTW scheme with a very knowledgeable assistant. I think I got sold on the Roubaix. 8)

I swear it was like a RL version of this place!

Oh yeah and I forgot to buy some new gel fingerless gloves

I know, I went in to mine just to look at SPD shoes for when I get paid and ended up with a helmet, some mitts, and some new pedals (if I'm getting new shoes, they deserve new pedals, right  ).

I was just in a bike shop, only walked out with the ratchets I wanted :p

Guy seemed pretty confused with how to deal with the deposit I'd left for them, but the very cute girl helped out :)

I have found myself offering advice or my own comments to other customers in my lbs. I can't seem to help myself.

A bit embarassing for the shop assistant when you know more than he does
